Admission Process

Admission to the Early Childhood Treatment Center starts with a referral from the child’s pediatrician or neurologist, from another mental health professional, or from a school district or Regional Center.

 

Diagnostic Evaluation:

As part of the initial evaluation process, all children are evaluated by a team of behavioral specialists working closely with parents.  These evaluations include:

  • Parent and/or caregiver interview,
  • Direct observation of the child, and
  • Evaluation of the child’s cognitive and adaptive functions by a qualified referral source or by the program Medical Director

 

Assessment Areas:

One or more of the following assessment areas may be evaluated to assist in the development of the treatment plan:

  • Cognitive Ability/Intelligence
  • Development
  • ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale)
  • ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised)
  • Adaptive Behavior
  • Pre-academic/Academic Acheivement
  • Speech and Language
  • Sensory Functioning

 

Assessment Tools:

One or more of the following assessment tools may be utilized to assist with the evaluation and development of the treatment plan:

  • Mullen Evaluation
  • The Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale
  • ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale)
  • ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised)
  • Weschler Preschool and Primary Scale or Intelligence
  • Weshler Intelligence Scale for Children
  • Wood-Cock Johnson

 

 

Authorization:

If necessary, an authorization must be obtained from your insurance company or health plan.
